Lahore: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, President Lahore Chamber Mian Noman Kabir, Senior Vice President Mian Rehman Aziz Chan and Vice President Haris Atiq inaugurated the 100th Spring Festival of Lahore Chamber.
Many people from all walks of life, including many women, took part in the grand and unique recitation competition. The one-day event became one of the highlights of the city.
Kariya Sophia Sajjad bagged the first position while Fatima Tariq and Muneeb Saleem bagged the second and third positions in the women’s category at the Lahore Chamber Recitation Competition.
The first position in the men’s category was won by Qari Muhammad Riaz, and the second and third – Atik-ur-Rehman and Qari Sufyan.
In the children’s category, Hazima Shakir took the first place, while Hafiz Abdul Basit and Hafiz Abdullah took the second and third positions.
Lahore Chamber President Mian Noman Kabir, LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Rehman Aziz Chan and Vice President Haris Atiq distributed the awards. Members of the executive committee of Lahore Chamber Syed Mardan Ali Zaidi and Malik Muhammad Nadeem were also present at the event.
Qari Ahmad Mian Tanvi, Mufti Intihab Ahmad Noori, Qari Abdul Nasir Alvi and Qari Muhammad Zishan Haider performed the duties of judges.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said that for the first time a unanimous Urdu translation of the Holy Quran has been prepared for all sects. The government is taking concrete steps to popularize the teachings of the Quran.
